LAHORE, 07 January (APP) Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday was a special working group of prominent business people together to come to a road map to deal with energy shortages facing the industry in the country. I was in a group of business people from major Gohar Ijaz, the leader of the Pakistani textile mills (APTMA), which led him to talk about the problems and the shortage of natural gas, which is currently facing the industry informed.

our members are sufficiant for domestic consumption Until december 2011, said Javad kayani,chiarman
of pakistsan Suger milles .association at a news conffrence on friday.He was acompiand by the PSMA
Punjab and Sindh Chiarman.We are expecting a bamper cane crop in a fourth coming churshing season.
He said that adding the churshing sseason shugerrance would commencein Novermber.so shuger import
will have a serios negative impact on local farmers and growers he said.The federalgovernment had
the plan of 400,000matric tens of the sweetners out of which the ECC recently approved 100,000
tons he added.The Minstryies of industries priposed suger import in the name of stabilityin the
market durinig the next season.But this move will innihilate shuger industry and the growers.Jawad
said that our government shoudnoy dole out $300 on suger import as we can not afford further burden
on national acconomy.He added that there was no reason behind the misuse of revenue when there is
allready surplus avaliable in the contry.He said that prices of the suger in the contry have also
come down and as compered to prices of August when the sweetner was being sold at Rs 75-76 kilogram
ex-factory.

The minister for petroleum and NaturlResources,Dr Asim Hussian,has warned that the country
would face unprecedented gas load shedding in the country would face unprecedented gas load
shedding in the coming winter.Talking to reports after distributing awards among employees
of Attock oil Refinery at a function titled`Long sservice Awards ceremoney for 2009-19 hhe
said that pakistan hasexpedited constrction of iran-pakistan(Ip)gas pipline project andit
ewould be completed in due course of time.asim said that threr would be there would be acute
shortage of gasin januaryand measur.are being taken to overcome to the problem.The minster
said that the government abolishedsubsidy on on petrol and diesl and has linked the ptroliem
products pices with internationalmarket He said that recent increase in the pricese of POL
products was the reasult ofdepreciation in pakistans currency against doler.He said that the
government is making all-outefforts to reduced gas load shedding for CNG sector from two and
half days to two days in punjab.The minster appreciated the efforts of Attok Group of Companies

Over 95pc taxepayers failed ST returns
ISLMABAD:over 95 percent taxpayers have successfuLLy field sales tax returns for the
tax periods of    july and august 2011.sources told business recorder here on friday
that a very small percentage taxpayers have notyet faild their returns for these tax
periods and FBR extended an oppertunity to those taxpayerswho could not file the return
due to some technicall reason of the efilling system .In this,conction the FBR has issued
elctronic intimations notices to the non fillers of sales tax returns and advised them to
send thier problems at stcomments@fbr.gov.pk by october21,2011.the FBR hasther clerified
that those taxpayers who will communicat problem of e-filing on theabove refferd email
address will not be charged any penatly of late filling if they do up tooctober 21,2011.
this last oppertunity to file the return after launching of newly introduced sales tex
returns by the FBR starting from this financial year has been offered by the FBR after
resolving all the known know problems in the e-filing system.sources siad that now
taxpayers have stated filing returns for tax periods of july and August 2011,without facing
any problem and returns for this month will be filed in a timely mannerThe return filing
date of sales tax is 15th of every month and those taxpayers who make any tax
payment can file the return within three days after 15th of the month.
